Nokia recently released a new update for its popular touchscreen phones, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, X6 and 5230. The latest update comes with the new Music Player with lyrics. The new feature displays the embedded lyrics of the song playing on your device. This update is currently available only via Over-The-Air (OTA).

• Windows Phone 7 Series will run on HTC HD2

  The confusion over whether Windows Phone 7 Series will be coming to older phones continues to rage as the HTC HD2 was shown running the OS.
  Admittedly it was a hacked version of the operating system running on the device, with HTCPedia forum member Tom Codon behind the port.
  But, apart from a slight amount of lag in certain operations thanks to some incompatibility issues with the graphics processor (which will apparently be resolved) the phone performs well.
  Present and correct
  The GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth all perform correctly, which can often be a problem when shoving a new OS on a phone, and the web browser looks fine in early pictures.
  The problem Microsoft is claiming that the OS can't be ported backwards, as it doesn't have the correct hardware specifications that future devices will be running to.
  And despite this new hack clearly showing that it can work fine on legacy phones, we doubt Microsoft will be changing its tune any day soon.

BOLT browser brings Indian Language support

BOLT is a feature rich mobile browser which supports a wide variety of phones . It supports both Flash and HTML5 video and comes with social network integration. Today BOLT announced that the BOLT browser supports Indic aka Indian regional languages in them. The users also can input the Indic fonts too. This is made possible by BOLT cloud computing browsing platform and  BOLT mobile browser with Indic language user interfaces,  to perfectly render Indic text on a Web page, and the ability for end users to input Indic text into the browser.

The supports Indian languages in BOLT are

The texts are rendered as text and not as images as in other mobile browsers.  The BOLT perfectly renders Indic text on a Web page, and allows users to scale text to larger or smaller sizes, copy and paste text from within a Web page, and interact with the content such as clicking embedded links or filling in Web forms.

Lokesh Joshi, director of research and development at Bitstream India said “Indic characters are not independent from one another the way characters are in Latin alphabets. Each letter’s size and shape is determined by the characters that surround it, making it a very complex language to work with in a mobile context. With BOLT’s Indic solution for device manufacturers and mobile network operators, Bitstream has also perfected Indic rendering in mobile browsing.”

LG LU3000 seems faster than the Galaxy S and iPhone 4

LG has shown of a really interesting phone dubbed the LU3000 at a mobile event in South Korea recently and this handset seems faster than the Samsung Galaxy S  and the Apple iPhone 4

Here are the rumored specs of the LU3000 -  3.8 inch WVGA IPS Screen ,  5 MP camera with AF, HDMI Out with support of 1080P video. It is powered by an OMAP 3630 1GHz CPU and runs on Android 2.2 OS.

iPhone owners are least likely to switch to another smartphone

Being loyal to a single handset maker is a really tough ask considering the plethora of handset options available in the market place. But Apple iPhone which has seen 4 revisions since 2007 continues to have most loyal user base.According to a study 59% of iPhone owners are likely to stick with Apple followed by Blackberry Owners at a distant 35%Just to add some meaning to the numbers , they are a result of a survey conducted in October and November 2010 among 2,653 odd mobile phone users in Brazil, Germany, Spain, Britain, the USA and China.

I have personally be a longtime user of  Symbian smartphones but the platform is growing at a snail pace compared to the growth of iPhone and Android. So what mobile platform are you using currently and which platforum would you consider for your next phone purchase ?
